Inspiring the Next Generation of Explorers, Innovators, and Leaders

The NSS South Houston Space Society is a chapter of the National Space Society dedicated to promoting space exploration, STEM education, and aerospace innovation throughout the Greater Houston region. Located in the heart of America’s space community, our chapter brings together students, educators, engineers, scientists, and space enthusiasts who share a passion for humanity’s future in space.

As the home of NASA’s Johnson Space Center and one of the world’s leading aerospace hubs, Houston offers extraordinary opportunities for young people to become involved in science, technology, engineering, medicine, and space exploration. Yet many students—particularly those in economically disadvantaged communities—lack access to the resources, mentors, and educational opportunities that can help them pursue these careers.

Our mission is
to help bridge that gap.

Through educational programs, guest speakers, field trips, mentorship opportunities, community outreach, and hands-on STEM activities, we strive to make space and science accessible to all students, regardless of their background or circumstances. We believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to dream big, explore new ideas, and discover pathways to success in STEM fields.

A Community for All Generations

The NSS South Houston Space Society welcomes members of all ages and backgrounds who share a passion for space exploration, science, technology, and discovery. While one of our primary goals is to inspire and educate young people, we believe that learning and curiosity have no age limit. Students, parents, educators, engineers, scientists, retirees, aerospace professionals, and lifelong space enthusiasts all have valuable experiences and perspectives to contribute.

By bringing together multiple generations, we create opportunities for mentorship, collaboration, and the sharing of knowledge that can inspire future explorers and innovators. Whether you are a middle school student dreaming of becoming an astronaut, a college student pursuing a STEM career, a professional working in the aerospace industry, or a retiree with decades of experience and stories to share, there is a place for you in our chapter. Together, we can build a vibrant community united by a common goal: advancing humanity’s future in space.
